I recently started this whole youtuber thing and I landed on Shotcut as my first editor because it's free, open source, tons of easy filter options and cross platform. I started with Divinci Resolve for a few days but quickly jumped over to Shotcut because I felt i can do what I need to do very quickly and intuitively. I noticed a lot of recommendations for HitFilm and now I'm wondering if it's worth giving it a shot. The only complaint i have with Shotcut is that it tends to crash often for me. The good news is that it seems to always be able to restore everything that I hadn't saved. I go from rage to pleasantly surprised every time it crashes and I reopen it.
